So you found us! Welcome to the hippest Choir Section on a Church website anywhere!
What makes the choir great? Did you know that having a good voice is not first priority? The choir is a TEAM, and like every great team, we have to work together, support each other and have fun. If you were one of those types that was once in choir in high school and hasn’t sung since, we might be the group for you. There’s lots of quirky, interesting personalities, lots of singing and lots of opportunities to have fun.
Sounds pretty neat, doesn’t it?
Afraid of commitment? No problem!!
Let’s face it…we live a large, urban centre in the 21st century and we’re afraid of everything, including any long-term commitment. I’m sure many of you would be interested in trying if it weren’t for that “every Sunday thing…”
While we can’t be everything for everyone, we try. Our fantastic Choir à la Carte” plan gives you the opportunity to try the choir for 4 weeks. That way, you’ll get to know how fantastic it can be get up on Sunday mornings to sing with like-minded people.
Never stepped in a church before? You’re not alone!!
Churches can be pretty scary, especially if you haven’t been in one. If you feel that you won’t know what to do or when to do it, you won’t be alone. If you really want no pressure, you can come to the practice in the morning and skip the service until you feel comfortable. If you want to join us for the service, I’ll pair you up with a special “buddy” who’ll help you along the way.
Why not read these frequently asked questions?
Q. I don't go to church regularly (or I've never been). Can I still join?
A. Absolutely. People attend church for a variety of reasons.
If you are there because you like to sing, that's perfectly fine.
We're not here to "convert" you.
Q. Is there an audition?
A. Not as such. You'll have a brief chat with the Music Director to see if you get along. You may be asked to sing something very easy just to see whether you are a soprano, alto, tenor or bass.
Q. I'm intimidated that I haven't sung for a while and I won't be any good.
A. Your concerns are perfectly normal. It may take you a while to get your back "in the swing of things", but we have a number of singers who will be there to encourage you along. What we are looking for more than anything is a positive attitude and an ability to get along with others. A beautiful voice doesn't hurt.
Q. What sort of music do you sing?
A. A little bit of this and that. We sing everything from Gregorian Chant to spirituals to contemporary Christian music. No matter your taste in music, you'll be sure to find something to your liking. It's never boring.

Q. What if I don't read music?
A. You might be pleasantly surprised at how quickly you learn when you have someone who reads beside you. We’ll pair you up with a lead singer who'll "show you the ropes" and answer any questions you might have. Don't be afraid to ask questions. That's what we're here for!!
Q. What is the time commitment?
A. Rehearsals will begin on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. There is a half-hour break at 10:30 a.m. The service begins at 11 o'clock and ends around 12:15 p.m.
