St. Andrews United Church

St. James Town Ecumenical Coalition

As many of you know, St. Andrew's United Church is an active member of the St. James Town Ecumenical Coalition.   One concrete program of this Coalition is the After-School Program or Homework Club for children in elementary schools in the St. James Town area.  Elizabeth Mowat, Marlene Parker and Mary Collins are regular volunteers with the Homework Club.

The other churches and organizations involved in the St. James Town Ecumenical Coalition are St. Simon-the-Apostle Anglican Church, Rosedale Presbyterian Church, Yonge Street Mission, City Hope - and to some extent, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

On Wednesday evening of this week, January 18th, at 7:00 pm, the Ecumenical Coalition will hold a brief Taizé-type service at St. Simon's, on Bloor Street just east of Sherbourne, to commemorate the second anniversary of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding that formally launched the Ecumenical Coalition.  Through this service we also celebrate our common unity in Christ during this Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which is celebrated by churches around the world.

We invite and encourage you to attend this service, which will be followed by refreshments.  If you have any questions, you may phone Elizabeth Mowat or Mary Collins.
