The Great Vigil of Easter

This past Saturday, the community at St. Andrew’s United Church in Toronto gathered for one of the most sacred and meaningful services of the year—the Great Vigil of Easter.

In the fading light of Holy Saturday, we shared in ancient readings, silence, candlelight, and song. Together, we moved from the quiet stillness of darkness into the radiant joy of resurrection. It was a night of deep reflection, sacred mystery, and powerful spiritual renewal.

Held at 7PM, the vigil marked the turning point of the Easter story—the moment when sorrow gave way to hope, and death was transformed into life.

The doors were open to all, and the spirit of welcome and acceptance was felt in every corner of the sanctuary. No matter who came or where they were on their journey, they found belonging.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make this night so meaningful. May the light we kindled together continue to shine in the days ahead.
